What is the company focused on now?
Northmark had been investing in research and development on beef cattle productivity for some years, which was approaching its final stages. With that, their focus was on completing their R&D activities and preparing for commercialisation.
Why did they seek an R&D Loan? What did it help them achieve?
Northmark was near completion of one of its R&D projects and had the end in sight. However, with the business being diverse, cashflow was needed across a range of other business activities, not just their R&D.
By Kashcade advancing their R&D refund, around 9 months earlier than it would have been paid out, they were able to expedite development of the project. Importantly, that unlocked a much faster road to commercialisation and therefore facilitated a huge return on investment.
And, as those funds were re-invested into more on R&D, the value of the expected R&D refund increased too. That, therefore, meant there was even more capital they could unlock each month, with ease and certainty.
